What are the aims of the Friendship Club?
To provide a place for recreation, to meet and make friends in a social, caring and relaxed atmosphere. This is created in a number of ways, with various activities such as:
Card and board games
Music and singing
Talks and discussions
Sharing a freshly prepared hot lunch
Outings and seasonal celebrations
All arranged by Lynda, Olive and a group of super volunteer helpers.
The Friendship Club meets in the Village Hall, which has suitable accommodation, including disabled facilities and provides a meeting place for up to 24 people of pensionable age who would like to enjoy more social contact.
Members are recommended to the Friendship Club by a request from themselves or their families, their GP or Social Services.
There is a small daily charge which helps cover expenses, including the provision of a hot meal bought in from a supplier and cooked fresh on site.
Transport is provided, if needed, by Cambridgeshire Social Services or voluntary car services, for a catchment area of within a six mile radius of Great Staughton.
If you would like more information about the Friendship Club, or would like to make a donation, please contact either the Chairman or the Organiser on one of the telephone numbers above.
